Looking at the roadmap, this appears to be a very significant release. PCG, Motion Design, Substrate materials, and first-person rendering are all moving to Production Ready status. MegaLights is moving up to Beta status and gaining support for directional lights, niagara particle lights, translucency, and hair strands. There's a lot here — but I want to call your attention to one major addition you might miss.
Unreal Engine 5.7 will introduce a new, experimental AI assistant. In Epic's words:
The AI Assistant gives you a faster way to get answers without leaving Unreal Engine. By sliding out a dedicated panel in the Editor, you can ask questions, generate code, or follow step-by-step guidance—all without switching to a browser.
You save time and stay in flow. Instead of breaking concentration to search online, you can get instant help, examples, and troubleshooting tips right inside the Editor.
I am very interested to see how this affects our Discord community, as well as other online communities where Unreal developers currently get this kind of support from fellow humans. Time will tell.
